Load transfer and contraction control has, for a long time, been a very tedious and costly exercise for the construction industry. In most instances, engineers have to allow extra thickening for key joints to avoid fracturing under load transfer. This practice can now be a thing of the past. The conventional round dowel is simply exchanged for a square dowel covered with the Danley Square Dowel Cover. The square dowel gives load transfer in both directions. Application Used for square dowels in contraction or construction joints that require considerable lateral movement in additional to longitudinal movement. Such conditions will exist in slabs that are to be post-tensioned in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the dowel. Ideal for use in extension of existing slabs. Sizes are available in 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm; other sizes can be manufactured to suit. Lengths can be cut as specified. Lateral Movement Lateral movement (10mm) of the dowel is provided by the provision of two strips of closed cell foam adhered to the inner face of the metal cover. Further extra lateral movement can be made available by adding more foam of appropriate thicknesson the outer face of metal cover.
